The Richmond May Fair Weekend
Three years is a long time to wait but Richmond's historic May Fair is back on The Green on Saturday 13th May 10am - 5pm - the 50th Anniversary. Although it's being run by a new Community Group there will be all the usual favourites. A wonderful array of Charity Stalls like Richmond Good Neighbours "Gin-tastic" tombola plus new businesses with a great range of unique products to catch your eye when browsing all the stalls on Richmond Green and in the Craft Marquee. The Victorian Fun Fair will be bigger with more rides and attractions. There will be the usual popular barbecues run by Friends of St Matthias and First Richmond Scouts and a fabulous range of food catering for every taste including vegan.. And of course it wouldn't be the Richmond May Fair without a huge choice of delicious cake to sample The Tap Tavern will provide the Fair Bar and for one day only the Cricketers will expand on to the Green with a Beer Garden.
There is something for everyone including our canine friends with the Richmond May Fair Dog Show being judged by Ian Stroud of Pet People and you have a choice of 5 classes to enter your dog on Eventbrite
As well as all the fun of the Fair there will be a great line up on the Richmond May Fair stage. Local youngsters from the Old Vicarage School, Kidzgottalent, Richmond Ballet School and Stagecoach will delight the audience. There will also be fantastic music from Liv Jayne, The Hornets, Janethan the St Margaret's Elastic Band and Age UK's Ukulele Band. To round off the afternoon no fewer than 5 young bands from producers Powerjam will provide an amazing sequence of irresistible rhythm and musical talent.
The entertainment will start right after the Mayor's official opening of the Fair at 11am and Riverside Radio will be broadcasting from the Fair all day.
Since its inception, the Richmond May Ball has raised over £1 million pounds for more than 15 local charities.
